NFL Signs Official Betting Deals

The NFL is the latest American sports league to sign an official betting deal. The league recently announced a multi-year deal with three sportsbooks to become the league’s official betting partners. The partnership grants all three companies access to exclusive NFL content and will pave the way for betting content to be integrated into NFL Network broadcasts this fall. Official betting partners can only offer betting odds and lines in the United States. A contract with an NFL team is not binding if the NFL does not sanction it.

The Liberty is one of eight original WNBA franchises. It plays home games at Barclays Center, Brooklyn, and is owned by Joe Tsai, who is also the majority owner of the Brooklyn Nets. In 2021, BetMGM will also become the official betting partner for the Knicks, Rangers, and Madison Square Garden. Similarly, BetMGM and Betway will announce official betting partnerships with six NBA/NHL teams in March 2021.

The NFL, NBA, and MLB have all agreed to allow sportsbook operators to use their official data. The leagues will provide the data to these sportsbooks, and the live betting odds will be updated more frequently. However, the leagues are worried about alienating casual fans by making gambling a part of the game. To avoid alienating casual fans, the networks are exploring alternative ways to broadcast gambling content on television, which may not disrupt the main telecasts.
